Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has claimed that the US is very close to a strong and effective deal with Iran, saying that the blockade of Iranian ports has put more pressure on Tehran than military strikes.
Speaking to reporters in Washington, Trump said that a very good, strong and powerful agreement is close to being finalized between the United States and Iran.
According to him, if the US wanted, it could easily continue bombing Iran for another two or three weeks, but such action would result in massive casualties, which they want to avoid.
Trump said that a diplomatic solution could prove more effective than military action and that he wants both sides to reach an agreement that is stronger and more lasting than any military outcome.
The US president stated that the port blockade imposed on Iran has had an extraordinary impact, adding that the combination of economic pressure and earlier US measures has significantly affected Iran’s economy, making Tehran more willing to negotiate.
He further said that large-scale bombing could have led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz for an extended period, creating serious consequences for global energy supplies and the world economy.
Trump also expressed optimism about a broader peace agreement in the Middle East, saying the parties have entered a crucial phase and are in the final stages of negotiations.
When asked about the timeline, he said that significant progress could be seen within the next two to three days.
Trump’s remarks come at a time when tensions between Iran and Israel, ceasefire efforts, and diplomatic contacts remain at the center of international attention.
