Tokyo (HRNW)- Authorities in Japan have issued a tsunami warning after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck offshore, prompting emergency response measures in coastal regions.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency and local media, the earthquake occurred beneath the sea with its epicenter located in the Pacific Ocean, at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers, raising immediate concerns of tsunami waves.
Officials instructed residents in coastal areas to move to higher and safer ground immediately. Strong tremors were felt across multiple regions, causing panic among the public.
Reports indicate that the quake registered an intensity of “upper 5” on the Japanese seismic scale, leading to structural damage in some areas, including weakened buildings and walls.
