Iran Calls US Seizure of Merchant Ship “Maritime Robbery”, Warns of Response

Tehran (HRNW)- Iran’s Joint Military Command has strongly condemned the reported US action against an Iranian merchant vessel, calling it a serious provocation and a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.

According to Iranian military sources, the ship was traveling from China to Iran when it was targeted. The statement described the incident as “maritime robbery” and warned that it would be met with a firm response.

The Iranian military command further stated that Tehran will respond “very soon” and take appropriate countermeasures. It also claimed that Iranian forces carried out drone attacks on some US vessels following the incident.

On the other hand, US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that the detained Iranian ship is now in US custody. Earlier, US President Donald Trump also stated on social media that the vessel was seized after allegedly violating a US blockade near the Strait of Hormuz.

The situation has escalated tensions in the region, with growing concern expressed internationally over the potential for further conflict.
