Liuzhou (HRNW)- A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern China’s Guangxi region, killing at least two people and injuring several others.
According to Chinese state media, the epicenter of the quake was in Liuzhou city at a depth of 8 kilometers. Strong tremors forced residents to rush out of homes and buildings in panic.
Reports said at least 13 buildings collapsed due to the earthquake, while several other houses were severely damaged. Rescue and relief operations are currently underway, with emergency teams searching for people feared trapped under rubble.
Chinese media confirmed that two people have died so far, while four others have been injured. One person is still reported missing and search efforts are ongoing.
Authorities have declared an emergency in the affected areas and advised residents to take precautionary measures, warning that aftershocks remain a risk in the region.
