National Assembly Members Laugh Over Minister’s Poverty Statistics During Question Hour

Islamabad (HRNW)- An interesting moment during the National Assembly session drew laughter from members after Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation Syed Imran Ahmed Shah gave a surprising response during the Question Hour.

During the session, the Federal Minister stated that 3 million people had risen above the poverty line through the Benazir Income Support Programme under the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation. However, when a member asked how many people had fallen below the poverty line, the minister replied that 4 million people had gone below the poverty line, prompting laughter among lawmakers in the House.

Meanwhile, member Naeema Kishor also raised concerns regarding technical issues inside the National Assembly. She complained that internet services were not functioning despite the assembly being described as “paperless.”

Showing her i-tab during the session, Naeema Kishor said the internet was not working and added that most members rely on digital devices for parliamentary work. She demanded that IT staff be made available to assist members, questioning how lawmakers would manage if their tabs failed to function.

The exchange created a light atmosphere in the House while also highlighting ongoing concerns regarding digital facilities and parliamentary infrastructure.
