Sheikh Hasina Vows Justice Following Death Sentence in Bangladesh Tribunal Verdict

Dhaka (HRNW)— Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed, recently sentenced to death in absentia by the International Crimes Tribunal, has vowed to seek justice and hold those responsible accountable. In a message to her supporters, Hasina said, “We will remember everything, and everyone will be held accountable. God gave life, and He alone can take it. Do not worry, this is only a matter of time, and I am confident that I can take revenge.”

Hasina also addressed allegations against her, describing them as false, and emphasized that she does not fear such verdicts. In an audio message ahead of the tribunal’s decision, she claimed that an interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus intended to dissolve her party, the Awami League, but stressed that the party’s deep roots make it resilient against any illegitimate power grab.

The 78-year-old leader spoke in Bengali, assuring supporters that the Awami League’s strength and legacy cannot be destroyed by external forces.
