Washington (HRNW)- Another attempt by Democratic senators in the US Senate to limit President Donald Trump’s war powers has failed, with lawmakers rejecting the proposed resolution for the fourth time.
The resolution sought to require presidential approval from Congress before any potential military action against Iran. However, a majority of Republican senators backed President Trump’s position, blocking the measure.
In the final vote, 47 senators supported the resolution while 52 opposed it, effectively ensuring that the president’s war powers remain unchanged and that he is not required to seek prior congressional authorization for military action.
Meanwhile, a new analysis by US broadcaster CNN reports a significant decline in public support for Israel within the United States, with analysts attributing the shift in part to criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to CNN data, attitudes toward Israel have changed sharply across political and social groups, particularly among younger Republican voters. Support among Republicans under 50 reportedly dropped from +28 points four years ago to -2 points in 2025, and further declined to -16 points in 2026, reflecting a dramatic downward trend.
