Tehran (HRNW) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy has launched naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz under the title “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz,” according to Iranian media reports. The drills are being conducted in a strategically important maritime region to assess operational readiness and response capabilities against potential security threats.
The exercises are being supervised by Revolutionary Guards Commander Mohammad Pakpour, with officials stating that the operations include practical demonstrations of defense strategies reflecting Iran’s strategic position in the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the Sea of Oman.
Analysts note that the drills come at a time when former US President Donald Trump has indicated plans to send another aircraft carrier to the Middle East, raising concerns about possible escalation of regional tensions. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global shipping route for oil supplies, and international markets are closely monitoring military activity in the area.
