UK Introduces New Travel Rules for Dual Nationals, Sparks Concerns Over High Costs

London (HRNW) – The UK Home Office has announced new regulations affecting British citizens with dual nationality. Starting February 25, 2026, dual nationals will only be allowed to enter the UK with a British passport; otherwise, boarding flights, ferries, or trains will be prohibited.

Passengers must also obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation costing £16. Those wishing to travel with a non-British passport will need a Certificate of Entitlement priced at £589, a move many are calling expensive and unfair.

The Home Office says the rules aim to improve safety and efficiency under the Digital Border System, but European citizens and families have raised concerns over the sudden implementation and costs. The rights group Three Million has urged the government to create a cheaper and simpler alternative.
