Quetta (HRNW) – The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Quetta has declared the terrorism case registered against Balochistan National Party (BNP) Chief Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal illegal and has quashed the FIR.
According to reports, after hearing arguments presented by lawyer Sajid Tareen Advocate, the court announced its decision regarding FIR No. 83/2025, declaring the proceedings unlawful and ordering the cancellation of the case.
BNP Central Information Secretary and Supreme Court lawyer Agha Hassan Baloch was also present during the court proceedings.
The terrorism case against Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal had been registered earlier after a public gathering was held in Quetta in support of the release of the leadership of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).
Following the court decision, BNP Central Senior Vice President and former President of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, Sajid Tareen Advocate, told media representatives that the verdict proved that, according to him, false cases had been used to pressure Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal and the party leadership.
He stated that his party would continue raising its voice against what it considers injustice and unlawful actions.
Sajid Tareen further alleged that the current government was attempting to suppress dissent by using legal cases against those who oppose its policies. He said such measures could not silence public voices.
No immediate response from the government or relevant authorities was available at the time of publication.
