Rawalpindi (HRNW)- Police have finalized comprehensive security arrangements for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections on Muhajirin seats scheduled for August 2, with more than 3,100 police officers and personnel assigned to ensure the peaceful and transparent conduct of the polling process.
According to a Rawalpindi Police spokesperson, over 200 traffic police personnel will also be deployed to maintain smooth traffic flow on election day.
A total of 100 polling stations have been established in Rawalpindi, including 18 Category A, 45 Category B, and 37 Category C polling stations.
All 18 Category A polling stations have been declared highly sensitive, where 100 Rawalpindi Police personnel will perform special security duties. CCTV cameras installed at sensitive polling stations have been linked with the Safe City surveillance system for continuous monitoring, while police security will be provided at all polling stations.
Polling stations have been established in the jurisdictions of City, Ganjmandi, Ratta Amral, Pirwadhai, Waris Khan, Bani, New Town, Sadiqabad, Chaklala, Civil Lines, Cantt, Race Course, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Saddar Barooni, Dhamial, Chakri, Chontra, Rawat, Mandra, Gujar Khan, Jatli, Kallar Syedan, and Kahuta police stations.
Authorities have also prepared a comprehensive transport plan for the secure movement of polling materials, while emergency response, civil defense, and traffic management plans have been finalized.
On the directives of CPO Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, meetings of administrative and police officers are continuing to ensure that every stage of the election process is completed efficiently.
The overall supervision of election security will be carried out by SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob, while CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera will personally oversee the command and control operations.
The CPO said that strict implementation of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s code of conduct and all relevant laws will be ensured. He added that maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens remain the highest priorities, and foolproof security arrangements will remain in place until the completion of the election process.
