Karachi (HRNW) – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi has held the Sindh Government and the Mayor of Karachi responsible for the tragic incident in Sohrab Goth, describing it as the result of what it called “criminal negligence.”
In a statement issued by the PTI Karachi Media Cell, party spokesperson Fauzia Siddiqui said the death of a citizen who reportedly lost his life while trying to rescue a child was deeply tragic. She expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the safe recovery of the missing child.
Siddiqui alleged that Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab has failed to address the city’s pressing civic issues and has instead focused on public relations activities and photo opportunities.
She further claimed that open drains, uncovered sewers, unsafe manholes, and poor municipal management continue to endanger the lives of Karachi’s residents.
The PTI spokesperson also criticized what she described as symbolic initiatives, alleging that the city has been neglected while citizens are forced to live in hazardous conditions.
She maintained that the Sindh Government and the Mayor of Karachi have failed to ensure the safety of citizens and called for immediate measures to secure drains, storm-water channels, and manholes, along with strict action against officials found responsible for negligence.
Siddiqui concluded by saying that those responsible for endangering the lives of Karachi’s residents must be held accountable and urged the authorities to take practical measures rather than issuing statements alone.
