Karachi (HRNW) – Karachi Police have claimed to have solved the mystery surrounding a burned body found inside a vehicle near Zero Point in Surjani Town, alleging that a businessman staged his own death in an attempt to deceive investors.
According to police, a technology-driven investigation revealed that rice trader Zeeshan Naz, who was allegedly under debts exceeding Rs. 5.5 billion (550 million rupees), orchestrated a fake murder plot to escape financial liabilities and mislead investors.
Investigators stated that the burned body found inside the vehicle was not that of the businessman, but of Qurban, a missing man from Muzaffargarh. Police allege that the victim’s body was placed inside the vehicle, which was then set on fire using a gas cylinder to make it appear as though the deceased was the businessman.
According to investigators, the vehicle did not burn completely because its air conditioning system remained switched on, allowing forensic teams to recover the businessman’s Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and mobile phone from the vehicle.
Police further alleged that the businessman’s wife initially identified the burned body as that of her husband and provided misleading information during the investigation. She has since been taken into custody for questioning.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and all aspects of the case, including the possible involvement of additional suspects and the circumstances surrounding the death of the unidentified victim, are being examined.
