Indonesia: 6.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Sulawesi Island, Tremors Widely Felt

Jakarta (HRNW): A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island, causing strong tremors and panic among residents.

According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located approximately 42 kilometers southeast of the city of Palu.

Initial reports indicate that the tremors were felt across nearby regions, prompting concern among local communities. However, there were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.

Authorities are monitoring the situation and assessing potential impacts in affected areas. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and follow official safety instructions.

Indonesia lies within the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a highly active seismic zone where earthquakes and volcanic activity are frequent due to shifting tectonic plates.
