Nabatieh, Lebanon (HRNW) – Military tensions between Israel and Lebanon have continued despite ceasefire efforts, with a reported Israeli airstrike targeting a Lebanese army vehicle in Nabatieh province.
According to international media reports, a spokesperson for the Lebanese Army said that an airstrike hit a military vehicle traveling between Kafr Tibnit and Khardali in the Nabatieh region. The spokesperson confirmed that a brigadier general, a captain and a soldier were killed in the incident.
The Lebanese Army strongly condemned the strike, describing it as a serious violation and expressing concern over the continued targeting of military personnel.
The Israeli military acknowledged carrying out the attack, stating that the vehicle had entered an area designated as an active combat zone where prior coordination was required. Israeli officials said troops in the area were operating under heightened alert due to intelligence reports regarding possible Hezbollah activities.
According to the Israeli military, the strike resulted from what it described as a mistaken assessment. Officials stated that an investigation has been launched and pledged that appropriate action would be taken if any wrongdoing is identified.
Separately, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that another Israeli strike on the town of Zabdeen in the Nabatieh district killed five people, including a woman and an emergency worker, and injured two others.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military has issued evacuation instructions for residents of several villages in southern Lebanon, including Aramata, Mashghara, Kafr Houna, Sujood and Ansaria, citing security concerns.
The latest developments come amid ongoing efforts to reduce hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon border. Recent ceasefire initiatives reportedly faced challenges as disagreements persist over security arrangements and military activities in the region.
