Uzma Bukhari Hits Back at Sharjeel Memon, Says Kashmir Voters Have Given Their Verdict

Lahore (HRNW)- Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has strongly responded to Sharjeel Inam Memon’s remarks, saying that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have delivered their verdict and the election results have disproved the Pakistan Peoples Party’s claims.

Reacting to Sharjeel Memon’s statement, Uzma Bukhari remarked that he should “drink cold water and pour cold water on his head,” adding that the elections are over and the public has already made its decision.

She claimed that the Pakistan Peoples Party’s alleged pre-election plans had failed and alleged that a PML-N candidate recovered ballot paper bags from the house of a PPP candidate on the eve of polling.

The Punjab Information Minister said that the PML-N had emerged strongly in the first phase of the Azad Kashmir elections, claiming that the people had expressed their confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.

Uzma Bukhari further said that political parties should learn to accept defeat gracefully and avoid adopting what she described as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s approach after election losses.

She also questioned the Pakistan Peoples Party’s stance by asking whether elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, where the PPP formed the government, should also be considered unfair by the same standard. She said that such double standards do not suit a party that claims to believe in democratic values.
