Tokyo (HRNW) – A powerful earthquake struck Japan’s southern island of Kyushu, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning due to a potential coastal threat.
According to the Japanese National Research Center, the earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 7.1. Following the tremors, Japanese authorities issued a tsunami warning for waves of up to one meter in height.
Residents have been advised to stay away from coastal areas, move to safer locations, and follow emergency safety instructions.
Authorities are continuously monitoring the situation, including possible damage caused by the earthquake, aftershocks, and the tsunami threat. Emergency and disaster management agencies have also been placed on alert.
