Trump Envoys Meet US Nuclear Experts as Iran Talks Reach Critical Stage

Oak Ridge (HRNW) – US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have visited Oak Ridge in the US state of Tennessee for consultations with nuclear experts amid ongoing diplomatic discussions involving Iran.

According to media reports, a US official said that the meeting with technical experts does not necessarily indicate that a final agreement is imminent. However, the visit reflects the seriousness of the ongoing negotiations and the need for preparations as discussions advance.

Oak Ridge is widely recognized as a major center for expertise in uranium processing and centrifuge technology. Reports indicate that approximately 100 specialists and technical experts participated in the discussions.

According to reports, the meeting focused on technical assessments and preparations related to potential developments in negotiations concerning Iran’s nuclear activities and broader regional issues.

The development comes after reports last week that US representatives and Iranian officials had agreed on the framework of a 60-day memorandum of understanding. The reported discussions include extending the ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, facilitating Iranian oil sales, and addressing issues related to Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium and future enrichment limits.

While officials have not confirmed that a final agreement is close, the involvement of leading nuclear experts is being viewed as an indication that negotiations have entered a significant and potentially decisive phase.
