Iranian Adviser Velayati Says Regional Power Balance Is Shifting in Iran’s Favor

Tehran (HRNW) – Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign affairs adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has stated that developments in the region are reshaping the strategic landscape and strengthening Iran’s position.

According to media reports, Dr. Velayati wrote on social media platform X that what he described as a long-feared scenario among Western strategists is now becoming a reality.

He asserted that Iran is becoming stronger and that the strategic map of the region is being redrawn. Referring to recent regional developments, he claimed that the United States requires a temporary agreement to facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as evidence of the failure of what he called the policy of “pressure on Iran.”

Velayati further argued that attempts to build a new regional order by weakening resistance movements would be a strategic mistake. According to him, any effort to reshape regional power dynamics without taking existing realities into account is unlikely to succeed.

The Iranian adviser also warned against what he termed “diplomatic deceptions,” stating that lasting peace can only be achieved through a balance of power rather than through promises that lack practical guarantees.

His remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic activity and discussions regarding regional security, maritime trade routes and broader geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
