US Imposes New Sanctions on Iran, Targets Crypto Network and Financial Activities

Washington (HRNW) – The United States has announced a new round of sanctions against Iran amid ongoing efforts to reach a diplomatic understanding and ease tensions between the two countries.

According to the US Treasury Department, the latest sanctions target several Iranian entities, including crypto-related networks and financial operations. US authorities stated that the cryptocurrency platform Nobitex had allegedly facilitated financial transactions worth millions of dollars linked to the Central Bank of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The Treasury Department claimed that substantial transactions continued through the network even during periods of internet restrictions, raising concerns among US officials about its role in bypassing sanctions.

According to US officials, the purpose of the new measures is to restrict what they describe as illegal access to Iran’s financial system and to curb funding for alleged military-related activities.

The sanctions come at a sensitive time, as diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and advancing negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue. Analysts believe Iran may respond to the latest measures in the coming days.
