Rawalpindi (HRNW)- Due to the return of people to their hometowns on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, a huge rush is being witnessed at transport hubs across the city.
According to details, a large number of citizens have already left for their native areas before Eid, while passengers still waiting for their journey are facing long delays, overcrowding and disorder at bus terminals. Families and female passengers were also seen waiting for hours for transport vehicles.
Passengers complained that transporters are charging arbitrary and excessive fares, while incidents of overloading and unfair behavior are also being reported. Due to this situation, Eid travel has become increasingly expensive and difficult for citizens.
According to reports, the Motorway Police, Regional Transport Authority and City Traffic Police Rawalpindi are taking action against overcharging and overloading, but despite these efforts, the overall situation remains uncontrolled.
Sources say that passengers traveling to different areas of Punjab and Sindh including Kot Addu, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Multan are facing severe difficulties. Travelers present at the Pirwadhai bus terminal since early morning stated that despite purchasing expensive tickets, they were informed that buses would depart three to four hours late.
Transporters argue that due to rising diesel and petrol prices, operating vehicles with fewer passengers is no longer financially possible, which is affecting transport schedules.
Meanwhile, citizens have demanded immediate and effective action from the authorities to ensure smooth and affordable travel facilities during Eid-ul-Adha.
