Islamabad (HRNW)- Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates and expressed full solidarity with the UAE government and its people.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan denounced the May 17, 2026 attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, calling the deliberate targeting of nuclear facilities a serious violation of international law and international humanitarian principles.
The statement emphasized that attacks on nuclear installations violate the Charter of the United Nations as well as the safety and security principles established under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The Foreign Office warned that nuclear facilities must never be targeted under any circumstances, as such actions could have devastating consequences for human lives, the environment, and regional as well as global peace and security.
Pakistan also urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint, avoid further escalation, and fulfill their obligations under international law and humanitarian norms.
The statement added that dialogue and diplomacy, in line with the principles of the UN Charter, remain the only effective path toward lasting peace, stability, and de-escalation in the region.
