HYDERABAD (HRNW) – A deeply distressing and heart-wrenching incident occurred in the Liaquat Colony area of Hyderabad, within the jurisdiction of the Sakhi Pir Police Station, where a household’s wedding celebrations turned into a scene of mourning on the day of the ceremony. According to reports, the groom’s family refused to bring the wedding procession (Barat) after their sudden demand for an additional Rs 200,000 was not met.

Sources reveal that the bride’s widowed mother had already stretched her financial limits to cover the marriage expenses. However, just a few hours before the Barat was scheduled to arrive, the groom’s family abruptly demanded an additional payment of Rs 200,000. Unable to arrange such a large sum on short notice, the widow pleaded with the groom’s family, who callously refused to proceed with the wedding unless the money was paid.
Public Humiliation and Legal Action
The refusal to bring the Barat caused immense mental agony and social humiliation for the bride and her family, who were left stranded with all arrangements completed. Seeking justice for the blatant extortion and breach of contract, the family approached the Sakhi Pir Police Station to lodge a formal complaint against the groom and his relatives. The police have received the application and initiated an investigation into the matter.
