South Korean Court Sentences Kim Nok-won to Life for Largest Online Sexual Exploitation Case

Seoul (HRNW) A South Korean court has sentenced Kim Nok-won, 33, to life imprisonment in the country’s largest online sexual exploitation case. Kim, posing as a pastor, created a pyramid-style network to intimidate people into producing nude and illegal content. He targeted 261 victims from May 2020 to January 2025, distributing child sexual abuse videos, blackmailing men and women, and forcing some victims towards self-harm or suicide. Kim ran 60 Telegram chat rooms and was active in 453 channels. For the first time, Telegram cooperated with South Korean authorities, providing crucial data that led to his arrest.
