Iran Issues Urgent Evacuation Warning for UAE Ports Amid Escalating Conflict

DUBAI/TEHRAN (HRNW): As the regional conflict enters its third week, Iran has issued a stark warning to residents and expatriates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), labeling major maritime hubs as “legitimate targets.” Iranian military officials and state media have urged the public to immediately evacuate areas surrounding Jebel Ali Port (Dubai), Khalifa Port (Abu Dhabi), and Mina Al-Fujairah, claiming these civilian facilities are being used as “hideouts” for U.S. military forces. This escalation follows recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s Kharg Island, the country’s primary oil export hub, after which Tehran alleged that the UAE allowed its territory to be used as a launchpad for the operations—a claim that has intensified regional volatility.

On the ground, the UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted 9 ballistic missiles and 33 drones launched from Iran on March 14, 2026. While the majority of the threats were neutralized, falling debris from an intercepted drone sparked a fire near an oil facility in Fujairah, leading to a temporary suspension of some oil-loading operations. Since the onset of hostilities on February 28, the UAE has reported six fatalities—including Emirati, Pakistani, and Nepali nationals—and over 140 injuries. The UAE Ministry of Interior has urged the public to remain vigilant, follow official government instructions, and avoid circulating unauthorized videos of security sites to maintain public safety during this period of high alert.
