9/5 Riots: Lahore ATC Extends Interim Bail for Azam Swati, Jamshed Cheema, and Musarrat Cheema

LAHORE (HRNW): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Azam Swati, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, and Musarrat Jamshed Cheema until April 3, 2026, in connection with multiple cases related to the May 9 riots.

ATC Judge Arshad Javed presided over the hearing, during which the accused appeared before the court to seek protection from arrest. The cases involve several incidents of arson and vandalism, most notably the attack on Askari Tower in Lahore. During the proceedings, the duty judge directed the prosecution to submit the complete case records and instructed the defense counsel to prepare their final arguments for the next hearing.

The court has maintained the interim relief for the PTI leaders, restraining the police from taking them into custody until the next court date. The investigation into their alleged roles in the widespread violence following the arrest of the PTI founder continues, with the court now set to resume the matter in early April.
