KARACHI (HRNW): In a sharp and emotional reaction to the sudden removal of Kamran Tessori as the Governor of Sindh, senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar has called for his party to immediately withdraw from the federal coalition. Speaking to the media following the appointment of PML-N’s Nehal Hashmi, Sattar expressed deep grievance over the “unilateral” nature of the decision, stating that the federal government’s action has effectively “shown the party its true status” within the alliance. He emphasized that as a key representative of urban Sindh and a vital coalition partner, the MQM-P was not taken into confidence, which he described as a significant breach of political trust.
Dr. Sattar further argued that there is no longer any justification for the MQM-P to remain part of the federal government after being subjected to such treatment and urged the party’s Rabita Committee to seriously consider parting ways with the administration to protect their political dignity. While Sattar has taken this hardline stance, the MQM-P leadership is currently engaged in high-level internal consultations to decide on a formal collective response. The potential withdrawal of the MQM-P poses a significant threat to the stability of the PML-N-led coalition, as the party’s votes are critical for maintaining a majority in the National Assembly.
