Washington (HRNW)- Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of notorious American billionaire and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has made a presidential pardon a condition for testifying before the House Oversight Committee of the US Congress. According to reports, Maxwell exercised her constitutional right to remain silent by refusing to answer all questions during her appearance via video link from a Texas prison.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyer, David Oscar Marks, informed the committee that if former President Donald Trump announces a pardon for her, Maxwell is ready to reveal all the details and names of influential figures related to the Epstein network.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for aiding and abetting the trafficking and sexual exploitation of underage girls. The members of the Congressional Committee wanted to obtain information about the role of influential figures involved in the Epstein network, but the Chairman of the Committee, James Comer, expressed disappointment with Maxwell’s refusal.
On the other hand, the White House has clarified that no clemency or presidential pardon is currently being considered for Ghislaine Maxwell. Meanwhile, women affected by the Epstein case and human rights organizations have strongly reacted to Maxwell’s stance and reiterated their demand for justice.
