Spain Refuses to Join Trump’s Gaza Peace Board, Calls for Palestinian-Led Decisions

Madrid (HRNW)- Following the establishment of the controversial Gaza Peace Board by US President Donald Trump, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has rejected the invitation to join, stating that the board operates outside the framework of the United Nations and excludes the Palestinian Authority, the primary stakeholders in Gaza.

Speaking after a European Union meeting in Brussels, PM Sanchez emphasized that the future of Gaza and the West Bank should be decided by the Palestinian people themselves, not by an external board. He also criticized the Peace Board for concentrating power and making decisions without proper consultation.

Other countries, including France, Norway, Britain, and Canada, have similarly refused or expressed caution regarding participation in the board, while the EU raised concerns about potential violations of UN standards.
