Islamabad (HRNW)– PTI’s founding leader Akbar S. Babar has strongly criticized the party’s intention to amend its constitution and conduct yet another intra-party election. In a statement issued on a social media platform, he said that the attempt to “rob” the basic constitutional rights of PTI workers is unacceptable. He questioned how those who failed to uphold their own party’s constitution could be expected to protect the constitution and laws of the country.

Babar stated that history is witness to the fact that the group currently controlling PTI has repeatedly held fake intra-party elections, causing severe political and legal damage. He recalled that the controversial elections held on December 2, 2023, caused irreparable harm to the party ahead of the February 8, 2024 general elections.
He added that another fake election was held on March 3, 2024, which he and other party members formally challenged on March 5, 2024. For over a year, according to him, the ruling group within PTI has been blocking the Election Commission of Pakistan’s verdict by securing a stay order from the Lahore High Court.
Akbar S. Babar said that the ruling clique’s recent plan to alter the party constitution and hold fresh elections is itself proof that the March 3, 2024 intra-party election was fraudulent and illegal.
