Washington (HRNW)- The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has rejected recent claims attributed to Iranian state media and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), saying that reports regarding the Strait of Hormuz, US warplanes and the naval blockade are inaccurate.
In a statement, CENTCOM said Iran had claimed that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz had become unsafe, but the US military maintained that the real threat to this strategic waterway stems from attacks and threats by Iran, not from international maritime traffic.
The US military also denied Iran’s claim that three F-35 fighter jets and three other military aircraft were destroyed during a recent attack on a US military base.
According to CENTCOM, no US military aircraft were damaged, while all missiles and drones launched by Iran were either intercepted before reaching their targets or failed to strike them.
The command also rejected Iran’s claim that the oil tanker M/T Nora had broken through a US naval blockade.
CENTCOM said the US-led naval blockade remains fully operational, with more than 20 warships, hundreds of military aircraft and thousands of personnel deployed to enforce maritime security. It added that naval surveillance and operations are continuing and that no confirmed violations of the blockade have occurred.
The conflicting statements from US and Iranian officials come as tensions in the Middle East remain high, with developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, commercial shipping and regional military activity continuing to draw international attention.
