Attock (HRNW) – Pakistan’s Crime Control Department (CCD) has claimed to have safely recovered a girl who was allegedly kidnapped from Attock for a ransom of Rs. 50 million, while the alleged mastermind of the kidnapping was killed during a police operation in Haripur.
According to police, the victim, identified only as “M,” daughter of Zameer, was allegedly abducted from her home on 14 July 2026. Initially, Attock City Police Station registered a case under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code, treating it as an abduction.
Authorities stated that a few days later, the victim’s family allegedly received a demand for Rs. 50 million in ransom for her release. Following the ransom demand, additional kidnapping-for-ransom provisions were added to the case, and the investigation was transferred to the Crime Control Department (CCD).
According to CCD officials, a team led by DSP Yasir Matloob conducted a raid in Haripur on Wednesday evening to apprehend the alleged prime suspect, Zargham. Police said an exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the suspect’s death.
Authorities further stated that information provided during the operation led investigators to a second location, where the kidnapped girl was recovered safely.
Police also claimed to have identified the alleged local network of the Zargham gang operating in Attock. Special teams have been formed to arrest other suspected members of the group, and further investigations are underway.
At the time of publication, no statement had been issued by the suspects’ families or legal representatives. The police account of the encounter and the allegations have not been independently verified.
