Tel Aviv (HRNW)- Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has said that if he returns to power, he will immediately declare Qatar an enemy state, accusing it of providing financial support to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Palestinian group Hamas.
In a statement, Bennett claimed that during his tenure as Israel’s prime minister, security agencies informed him that Qatar was financially supporting Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hamas.
He further alleged that Qatar invested billions of dollars in American universities to influence the thinking of younger generations. According to Bennett, this contributed to the growing popularity of pro-Palestinian slogans such as “From the River to the Sea” on some university campuses.
The former Israeli prime minister also claimed that Qatar’s influence extends beyond Western countries and has reached the office of the Israeli prime minister. He alleged that its objective is to weaken Israel and create an environment hostile to the country.
Bennett said that if he is given another opportunity to lead Israel, he will officially designate Qatar as an enemy state and implement strict measures against it.
Naftali Bennett was previously associated with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political party and also served as his chief of staff. He later founded his own political party and served as Israel’s prime minister from 2021 to 2022.
So far, the Qatari government has not issued an official response to Bennett’s allegations.
