Southern Gaza (HRNW) – The Israeli military has claimed that it killed a senior commander of Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, during an airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to international media reports, an Israeli military spokesperson identified the commander as Muhammad Othman Yassin Furana. The Israeli army stated that the operation was conducted by its Southern Command based on intelligence information.
The military claimed that the targeted commander posed an immediate threat to Israeli ground forces engaged in ongoing operations in Gaza and that the strike was carried out as part of efforts to disrupt Hamas’s military activities.
Hamas has not immediately confirmed or denied the Israeli claim. Independent reports indicate that the identification process is still ongoing, and the circumstances surrounding the reported killing have not been independently verified.
The development comes amid continuing conflict in Gaza and follows recent Israeli announcements regarding operations against senior Hamas figures. Israeli officials have stated that targeting key commanders is part of their broader military strategy in the territory.
The situation in Gaza remains highly fluid, with ongoing military operations and humanitarian concerns continuing to draw international attention.
