Karachi: Smuggling Attempt Using Women as a Shield Foiled; 3 Arrested with Betel Nut Powder

KARACHI (HRNW): The SITE Super Highway Industrial Area Police of East Zone, acting on a tip-off, foiled a major attempt to smuggle crushed betel nut (Chalia powder) by using women as a cover. Police conducted a raid near the Main Super Highway and arrested three suspects, including two women.


Operation Details and Seizures

According to the East Police spokesperson, the suspects were attempting to smuggle the contraband from Hub Chowki via the Northern Bypass to the interior of Sindh. Upon intercepting and searching a rickshaw (registration number AAE-5514), police recovered:

  • 04 Large Bags of betel nut powder.

  • 04 Sacks of betel nut powder.

The rickshaw used for the smuggling operation has been impounded by the authorities.

Identity of the Arrested Suspects

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  1. Muhammad Khan, son of Amanullah (Driver).

  2. Sakina, wife of Aslam.

  3. Fatima Bibi, wife of Abdul Razzaq.


Legal Proceedings

The SHO of SITE Super Highway stated that a formal case (FIR No. 264/2026) has been registered against the suspects. Preliminary investigations suggest that the group intentionally included women to evade police checking at security posts. Further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify the main buyers of the smuggled goods.
