Iran Claims Strikes on U.S. Military Bases in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain Amid Escalating Conflict

TEHRAN/RIYADH (HRNW): In a significant escalation of the ongoing regional conflict, a spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced that Iranian forces have targeted the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. Describing the Prince Sultan Air Base as a “key hub for U.S. aggressors,” the spokesperson claimed that advanced ballistic missiles were used to strike U.S. reconnaissance aircraft stationed there, while the Fifth Fleet in Bahrain was reportedly targeted with a combination of missiles and drones. This 75th wave of retaliatory strikes, part of “Operation True Promise 4,” comes as Tehran shifts toward a more aggressive military posture following recent U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian infrastructure.

In a parallel statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a direct warning to the United States and Israel regarding potential attacks on civilian energy infrastructure. The IRGC declared a “power for power” policy, asserting that any strike against Iran’s electricity grid or power plants would be met with immediate and equivalent retaliation against Israeli power stations and the facilities supplying electricity to U.S. military bases across the Gulf. This warning followed an ultimatum from U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened to “obliterate” Iranian power plants if the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz was not fully reopened within 48 hours. While Iran has intensified its threats to close the maritime corridor and lay sea mines, it notably dialed back earlier rhetoric regarding the targeting of regional water desalination plants, characterizing those claims as “misinformation.”
