KARACHI (HRNW) : In a landmark move for public welfare, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has officially mandated Third-Party Insurance for every vehicle in the province, making Sindh the first in Pakistan to implement such a comprehensive law. Announced on March 8, 2026, this revolutionary decision aims to provide a vital financial safety net, ensuring that victims of road accidents or their heirs receive 700,000 rupees in the event of death and 500,000 rupees in cases of permanent disability through a newly approved “No-Fault” compensation system. Under the new legal amendment to the Sindh Motor Vehicle Ordinance (Section 67-H), the Chief Minister has integrated insurance directly into the provincial system; no vehicle can now be registered, no token tax can be paid, and no ownership can be transferred without a valid insurance policy. To ensure transparency and eliminate the risk of fraud, Pakistan’s first Digital Insurance Monitoring System has been activated, linking the Excise Department directly with the SECP database for instant verification. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah praised Provincial Minister Mukesh Chawla and the Secretary of Excise for their tireless work in finalizing this legislation, noting that this initiative ensures no citizen will have to face the aftermath of a road accident alone.
