Dairy & Cattle Farmers Association (DCFA) Warns of Major Milk Price Hike After Eid

Karachi (HRNW): Shakir Umar Gujjar, President of the Dairy & Cattle Farmers Association (DCFA) Pakistan, has issued a final warning to the government, stating that while milk prices have not been increased yet due to the sanctity of Ramadan, the current situation has become unsustainable. He highlighted that dairy farmers have been effectively providing a subsidy of 70 rupees per liter to consumers for several months, leading many farmers to the brink of bankruptcy. Gujjar demanded that the government immediately issue a notification for the new milk price of 320 rupees per liter, lashing out at the federal administration for increasing petroleum prices by 55 rupees while ignoring the rising production costs faced by farmers. The Association made it clear that selling milk at old rates is no longer possible after the massive hike in input costs. If Chief Minister Sindh does not take immediate notice of the farmers’ deteriorating economic condition, the DCFA will unilaterally increase milk prices immediately after Eid-ul-Fitr.
