LAHORE (HRNW) – The court has ordered the reinstatement of a Punjab Police officer who was dismissed from service after being marked absent for 94 days while tending to his critically ill mother.
According to details, the officer was performing his duties when his mother fell seriously ill. He submitted a leave application to the department, but it was not approved.
Due to compelling family circumstances, he stayed home to care for his mother. Subsequently, the department declared him absent for 94 days and dismissed him from service.
Challenging the decision, the officer filed an appeal in court, stating that his absence was not intentional but caused by a severe family emergency.
The department argued that prolonged absence could not be tolerated in a disciplined force like the police and requested the court to dismiss the appeal.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court accepted the appeal and issued an order to reinstate the officer to his position.
