Rising US–Iran Tensions Heighten Fears of Potential Military Conflict

Washington (HRNW) – Growing tensions between the United States and Iran have significantly increased concerns about a possible military confrontation in the region.

According to reports, the USS Gerald R. Ford has entered the Mediterranean Sea with dozens of fighter jets on board, signaling heightened military readiness. Media outlets have also reported that US fighter jets have taken up positions at American air bases in Portugal, while an American newspaper claims that at least 60 fighter jets are stationed at a base in Jordan.

A British news agency suggested that in the event of a possible strike, the United States could directly target Iranian leadership in an attempt to weaken the government. However, there has been no official confirmation from US authorities regarding such claims.

On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has adopted a firm stance, stating that Iran will not bow to international pressure. He emphasized that Iran remains prepared for both diplomatic engagement and defensive measures.

It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump recently issued a 10 to 15-day ultimatum to Iran regarding a potential agreement, further escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Experts warn that the recent actions by both nations have heightened uncertainty across the region, while the international community continues to call for diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
