Pakistan, EU Strengthen Cooperation to Curb Illegal Migration

ISLAMABAD (HRNW) Pakistan and the European Union reiterated their support and assistance in curbing illegal migration and facilitating legal channels and expressed their commitment to ensure the implementation of the EURA Agreement.

According to the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with the European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner in Brussels and during this, he welcomed the recently held Pakistan-EU Migration Mobility Dialogue.

Ishaq Dar highlighted the usefulness of the “Dialogue Framework” to facilitate and regulate the legal migration of skilled labor to the European Union.

According to the statement, both sides appreciated the increasing level of bilateral cooperation on issues related to migration and labor mobility.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan is committed to ensuring the implementation of the “EURA Agreement” and the European Union Commissioner Brunner appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to curb illegal migration.

Both sides reiterated their support and assistance in curbing illegal migration and enabling legal channels through the “Pakistan-EU Talent Partnership Roadmap”.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was accompanied by Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg Rahim Hayat Qureshi.
