Federal Government Approves New Business Hours Nationwide Under Energy Conservation Plan

Islamabad (HRNW) – As part of its energy conservation campaign, the federal government has approved new operating hours for businesses across the country. According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, all shops, markets, and shopping malls will be required to close by 9:00 PM, while wedding halls and other commercial events will be permitted to continue until 10:00 PM.

The notification further states that restaurants, hotels, and vegetable markets will be required to conclude their business activities by 11:00 PM.

Under the new policy, certain sectors have been exempted from the restrictions, including medical stores, IT companies, tandoors, gyms, and fuel stations, which will be allowed to continue operating under their existing schedules.

The Cabinet Division has directed provincial governments and district administrations to ensure the effective implementation of the revised business hours across the country.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also decided to adopt the same timings in line with the federal policy, and an official notification in this regard is expected to be issued soon.

According to officials, the primary objective of the measure is to promote energy conservation, reduce electricity consumption, and support the government’s broader efforts to manage energy resources more efficiently.
