Addressing a UN Security Council briefing on the situation in Ukraine on March 23, 2026, Ambassador Iftikhar emphasized that regardless of the region—whether in Ukraine or elsewhere—lasting solutions can only be achieved through sustained dialogue, diplomacy, and restraint. He warned that the conflict, now entering its fifth year, has exacted a heavy toll on civilians and global economies, while noting that recent “avoidable” crises in the Middle East have further complicated the international diplomatic landscape.
