Rangers and SIU Police Arrest Two Members of Extortion Mafia in Karachi

KARACHI (HRNW): In a joint intelligence-based operation, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the police arrested two suspects involved in extortion from the New Karachi area. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Areeb (alias Mushtaq) and Muzammil.

According to details, Mohammad Areeb is associated with the notorious extortion rings led by Osama Jamil and the Abdul Samad Kathiawari group. Investigations reveal that Areeb, along with his accomplices Munaz (alias Mani) and Asghar, was actively involved in collecting protection money from shopkeepers and local business owners. While his associates were previously arrested and jailed, Areeb had been hiding in various parts of the city to evade capture.

The second suspect, Muzammil, is a close aide of the extortion mastermind known as Bahadur PMT. Muzammil was responsible for collecting extortion money from various businessmen on behalf of Bahadur PMT. Furthermore, the suspects were found to be involved in transferring the illegal proceeds to Bahadur PMT abroad through the illicit Hawala/Hundi system.

Raids are currently underway to apprehend the remaining members of these gangs. The arrested suspects have been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings. Law enforcement agencies have appealed to the public to report any criminal activity or suspicious elements to the nearest Rangers check post, the Rangers Helpline (1101), or via WhatsApp at 03479001111, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
