KARACHI (HRNW): In anticipation of continued protests following the martyrdom of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, Karachi authorities have implemented a high-security lockdown, completely closing several major arteries to traffic. Security containers have been placed at key entry points to the Red Zone to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive government installations.
Access to the Governor House and Chief Minister House has been entirely restricted. On Shara-e-Faisal, the road leading toward the Red Zone from the FTC building has been closed. Additionally, the bridge connecting I.I. Chundrigar Road to Mai Kolachi is inaccessible. According to the Karachi Traffic Police, vehicular movement will remain suspended on Mai Kolachi and M.T. Khan Road throughout the day. Commuters traveling from Boat Basin toward Jinnah Bridge are advised to take alternative routes via Teen Talwar, Clifton Bridge, Metropole, and Fawara Chowk.
For those heading from ICI Chowk toward Mauripur Road and Boat Basin, the Jinnah Bridge and I.I. Chundrigar Road remain open as viable alternatives. Travelers moving from the PIDC Signal toward Shara-e-Faisal are redirected via Shaheen Complex and I.I. Chundrigar Road to reach Jinnah Bridge. Citizens are urged to plan their journeys in advance and expect significant delays across the city’s central business districts and southern coastal routes.
