KARACHI (HRNW): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, chaired a high-level review meeting at the Central Police Office today to finalize the establishment of modern police infrastructure and strengthen operational capabilities in the province’s riverine (Katcha) regions. The session, attended by senior police leadership both in person and via video link from Larkana and Sukkur, focused on the ongoing successes of “Operation Nijat-e-Mehran.” During the briefing, DIGs from the northern ranges presented comprehensive plans for the construction of permanent police bases, strategic check-posts, and watchtowers. IG Odho emphasized that the placement of these facilities must be dictated by strategic requirements and the need for effective access to local populations to ensure the areas remain permanently secured against criminal elements.
Expressing satisfaction with the operational progress, IGP Odho announced that the successful stabilization of these regions would pave the way for the Sindh Government to initiate organized developmental projects. He noted that the transition from active operations to long-term security is essential for the region’s prosperity, stating that the focus has now shifted toward creating a sustainable environment for law and order. By integrating modern technology and permanent infrastructure, the Sindh Police aims to maintain a constant presence in previously inaccessible areas. The IG reaffirmed that once the “clear and hold” phase is complete, the government’s planned infrastructure and social development works will be implemented to uplift the communities affected by decades of banditry.
