Tel Aviv (HRNW)- Israel has been placed on high alert after Iran launched missile and drone strikes on Israel, with thousands of Israelis fleeing to underground shelters and safe havens.
According to foreign media reports, sirens sounded in the capital Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other major cities, prompting citizens to immediately evacuate to shelters near their homes and public places. Israeli authorities confirmed that air defenses had been activated and several missiles and drones had been intercepted in the air.
According to the Israeli Home Front Command, the public has been advised to avoid unnecessary movement and strictly follow security instructions. Educational institutions have been temporarily closed, while public gatherings have been banned in several cities.
On the other hand, Iran has said in its statement that these actions are defensive in nature in response to Israeli attacks and that it is exercising its right to self-defense under international law. According to Iranian officials, the targets of the operations are military installations.
Israeli authorities have not yet released final figures on casualties, but the situation remains tense and the international community is closely monitoring the rapidly deteriorating security situation in the region.
