Karachi (HRNW)- Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Munem Zafar Khan, along with District Central Ameer Gulberg Kamran Siraj and Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah, inaugurated Karachi’s first Dr. Jalaluddin Saifi Free Fitness Club in Gulberg Town.
The free fitness club, established under TMC Gulberg at the Sports and Culture Center, Block 10, is equipped with modern exercise machines. Special timings from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. have been allocated exclusively for women to ensure they can participate in fitness activities in a safe and dignified environment.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Munem Zafar Khan said the Dr. Jalaluddin Saifi Fitness Club reflects Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to public service. He said the party is fulfilling its promises by solving public issues with the available resources.
He highlighted that 42 parks have been inaugurated in Gulberg Town over the past three years, while Jamaat-e-Islami-led administrations in nine towns have restored more than 200 parks across Karachi. He also criticized the federal, provincial and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) authorities for neglecting the health sector.
Munem Zafar Khan said Gulberg Town has established a primary healthcare unit benefiting thousands of residents and has also introduced what he described as the country’s first education card. He added that thousands of streetlights have been installed, rainwater conservation plans have been prepared, and Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to safeguard the rights of Karachi.
The ceremony was also addressed by Kamran Siraj, Nusratullah, Farooq Naimatullah, Nadeem Hanif, and Saeed Musa, while Information Secretary Zahid Askari and other officials were also present.
A large number of elected representatives, social figures, youth and local residents attended the event and appreciated the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward promoting public welfare, a healthy lifestyle and positive engagement for young people.
Munem Zafar Khan said that in the past, parks and sports grounds had been occupied for commercial purposes. He stated that, following legal action initiated by Jamaat-e-Islami’s town chairmen, the High Court ordered the removal of commercial activities from parks and sports grounds, adding that around 95% of such activities had been stopped through their efforts.
Kamran Siraj said Jamaat-e-Islami aims to make the whole of Karachi as developed as Gulberg Town, adding that the party will continue to work for the city’s rights and improve civic infrastructure if given greater public support.
Town Chairman Nusratullah said Gulberg Town is committed not only to municipal services but also to launching innovative public welfare projects. He described the free fitness club as an important initiative to promote a healthier society, adding that public tax money should be spent for the benefit of citizens.
He further said that despite Karachi being the economic hub of Sindh and Pakistan, its residents continue to face shortages of basic facilities, including water, electricity, roads, education, healthcare and public transport. He added that the K-3 water project was the last major water scheme completed during the tenure of former City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, while the K-4 project was initiated during the same period but has yet to significantly improve water supply to citizens.
