Rawalpindi (HRNW) – Aleema Khan, sister of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has expressed concerns regarding the state of judicial independence in Pakistan, criticizing the impact of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
Speaking to media representatives in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan stated that an independent judiciary is essential for investor confidence, economic development and the rule of law. She argued that uncertainty regarding judicial independence could negatively affect investment and broader national progress.
During her remarks, she also discussed issues related to democratic rights, constitutional freedoms and public participation in political processes. Aleema Khan said that citizens should be able to express their views and advocate for their constitutional rights without fear.
Referring to past political demonstrations, she stated that many people had participated in public movements to demand judicial independence, democratic governance, constitutional supremacy and electoral transparency.
Aleema Khan reiterated her commitment to speaking in support of constitutional rights, democracy and the independence of the judiciary, emphasizing that these principles are important for the country’s future.
