Lahore (HRNW)- Wahab Riaz has said that the home series against Zimbabwe is of utmost importance for the Pakistan women’s cricket team.
Talking to the media in Lahore, Pakistan women’s cricket team mentor Wahab Riaz said that the launch of the Women’s T20 League is the need of the hour, while players should get more opportunities to participate in foreign leagues so that their skills can be developed.
He said that the series against the Zimbabwe women’s team is part of the ICC Championship, which will earn ODI ranking points, while the T20 series will help in preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
According to Wahab Riaz, special attention is being paid to improving the fitness and fielding of women cricketers, for which special camps have been set up in Karachi and Lahore. He said that work is also underway to strengthen the players mentally and increase their understanding of the game.
The former fast bowler added that due to fewer matches, women cricketers face a lack of experience at the international level, due to which they are unable to make better decisions at important occasions.
It should be noted that the Zimbabwe women’s cricket team is touring Pakistan for the first time, and the first ODI match of the series will be played on May 4.
